Apparently she´s controversial in the US. I personally don´t have a liking for her philosophy but I´ve never read anything by her.

I’ve read about it a little bit, and she obviously developed the Objectivist philosophy very thoroughly, but most of it is completely impractical to fully institute unless you can somehow get along without roads and public education.

I thought The Fountainhead was a good read, but Atlas Shrugged is extremely repetitive, she makes the same points again and again, really drags out the book and subordinates story telling and character development. That said, it could probably be made into a decently entertaining miniseries, with some fat trimming and a proper budget - the movies that were made based on it, well, the less said about them, the better.
